Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkatta was founded 41 years ago in 1966 by Sri & Smt B.K. Birla. In its preamble, it promised to dedicate itself for the cause of Indian Art and Artists. Keeping its mind open about its obligations, this year as a part of its major activities, it had organized its 41st Annual Exhibition. All India affair, this exhibition represented the works of Indian Artists hailing from various parts of India including Delhi, Udaipur, Indore, Mumbai, Baroda, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Banaras, Bhubaneswar, Manipur besides Kolkatta, Shantiniketan and from other parts of West Bengal. This huge exhibition was a unique experience about the experimentations that are being carried out in contemporary art in various corners of India.
This exhibition is a successful effort of our Honourable Vice- chairperson Jayashree Mohta and sincere co-operation of all the staff of the Academy. The participation of senior artists, eminent scholars and intellectuals are deeply appreciated by the Academy.
