SVIKRITI 2008

Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata in the competitive section of its Annual Exhibition, 2008 nominated six young and upcoming artists for award on achieving excellence in their area of respective specialization. The said artists were Smt. Gargi Das ( Tempera Painting ), Shri Partha Dasgupta and
Shri Timir Brahma (Acrylic Paintings), Shri Bhaskar Lahiri (Drawing), Shri Susanta Pal (Grcphics) and
Shri Bhabotosh Sutar (Sculpture). Besides the prize money and citation, Birla Academy to encourage these artists further, is sponsoring this exhibition of today entitled 'Svikriti - 2008' exclusively on their recent works. The idea being to offer these young artists a platform to display their talents before a wider art lovers and connoisseurs.
This has been one of the various ways by which Birla ACddemy tries to fulfill its obligations to the society. The Academy remains reasonably concerned about the National Heritage and at the same time, it is trying its best to make itself fully equipped as a place of pilgrimage for the contemporary Indian artists. Its deep concern for the young upcoming artists is well known. The Academy has made it a principle to extend necessary help and co-operation to upcoming artists so that they could carve a niche among the established group of contemporary artists in India. It is hoped that the above mentioned six young artists would carry on their quest for beauty with sincerity and devotion and would surely receive their due recognition in our society.
