New Delhi based Sheba Chhachhi (b. 1958) studied at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. Her solo exhibitions include ‘The Space Between’, Galleria Paolo Curti /Annamaria Gambuzzi & Co, Milan (200); ‘Winged Pilgrims: A Chronicle from Asia’, Walsh Gallery, Chicago (2009) and Bose Pacia, New York (2008) and Nature Morte, New Delhi (2007); ‘Ganga’s Daughters: Meetings With Women Ascetics 1992-2004’, Nature Morte, New Delhi (2004); ‘When The Gun Is Raised, Dialogue Stops…Women’s Voices from Kashmir’, a collaboration with Sonia Jabbar, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (2000).
Her work has been included in several international art exhibitions, biennales and triennials and many publications. She has exhibited widely in India, Europe, Japan, South and North America, and has published writings, given talks and conducted workshops, research and projects addressing transformation, marginality and the play between the mythic and social in the context of gender, representation, urban ecologies, violence and visual culture.
